I like this name but only when it's spelled Sherri or Sherry. Sheree looks too trashy.

I see in my mind a very loving and sweet person with the name Sherry. It just seems that a person with this name brings both sweetness and a delicate caring soul. I know a few Sherry/i's and all but one are just as sweet as they can be. One is a very hard unfeeling person but she would be no matter what name she had. If you see a Sherry you can be moderately sure this is a sweet and loving person. The "little darling" meaning really fits in with this name and personality of those with it.
I think it has never been mentioned about the baseball player Sherry Magee, (1884-1929). MLB outfielder who played in over 2,000 games during his 16-year career in the National League. He was signed right off the playing fields near his home in Pennsylvania, skipping minor league ball completely. He once got mad and knocked out an umpire during a game. He played with the Phillies most of his career. He was married and did have children. Also "Terry Williams" Danny Thomas's daughter on his sitcom was played by Sherry Jackson. She was also in many of the Ma and Pa Kettle movies. There was Sherry Miller who played on "Queer as folk". Anyway, there are a few famous persons with the name. But not many at all. It seems it is pretty uncommon as far as names go. Not rare but not in use that much for such a common sounding name, hum, you'd think it would be more used. It does have some of the qualities parents often look for when choosing a name. 1) It's not as commonly used really, which means unusual, which means it would be a very personally distinct name in a way 2) It is pretty good sounding and invokes that response of "Oh you don't hear of many Sherry's but it is quite pretty 3) It just invoked a sense of individuality, a set aside personality but a very open and kind personality. 4) You aren't going to see many others with the name. 5) It isn't unusual enough to make it a name to be made fun of or a source of hurt to a child growing up with.
When I hear this name, I think of a chain smoking, beer bellied, cheap white trash who is stuck in the 1980's, hates most women due to her own insecurities & cannot keep a friend for always complaining about her life & how rough she's had it especially when it comes to men who when they find out about her other personalities run as far away as possible fearing her to be crazy due to extremely difficult, controlling, judgmental, and impossible mood swings. I feel sorry for anyone with this name as I know they are not all like that. I've only known 5 in my life & 4 out of 5 were so much like the description above. The other is the exact opposite but it is what it is & I usually steer clear of anyone with that name.
In the book "The Outsiders," Cherry Valence's real name is Sherri.
Like the contemporaries Terri and Kerri, this name sounds hopelessly youthful and cutesy, and more like the nickname of an underaged girl than the name of an adult. It's still much better than the currently trendy cutesy names.
Comedienne, actress and co-host of 'The View', Sherri Shepherd is a famous bearer of this name.
I can't believe no-one has commented on this! This is one of my favorite names. It of course reminds me of a cherry but it is nice and pretty. It's also uncommon, which is a plus!
